National Bike Challenge 2012
May 1-August 31, 2012

Ride your bike, log your miles and show that Colorado has the most dedicated bicylists in the country as part of the National Bike Challenge this summer. The National Bike Challenge is a bicycling challenge where cyclists compete as individuals, on teams, workplaces, as communities and as a state to see who can log the most miles. Ride one day or ride the whole summer. It's free and easy to participate. Help Colorado log more than 1 million miles collectively!

Gran Fondo Moab
May 12, 2012

Drawing upon the Italian tradition of community cycling events, Gran Fondo Moab offers a fabulous road bike experience along the Colorado River and through the La Sal mountains above Moab. A Gran Fondo is a mass start, timed event, providing a competitive experience for all abilities. The La Sal mountain loop covers 60 miles, climbing 5,500 feet before descending the final 22 miles back to Moab. This memorable route has an amazing variety of canyon country scenery with incredible views of the mountain peaks and the red rock valleys far below.

Buena Vista Bike Fest
May 19, 2012

Enjoy the beautiful century route from Buena Vista to Leadville and back along scenic Turquoise Lake, around the Mineral Belt trail, through the historic Leadville mining district. The majority of the climbing is completed in the first 60 miles, leaving 40 miles of flats and downhill to the finish. Riders also can choose from 35-, 50- and 62-mile options while still enjoying the fabulous scenery of the Collegiate Peaks. Registration will sell out again in 2012, so don't delay.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Weekend
May 26–28, 2012

Since 1972 the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic in Durango, has challenged cyclists of all levels to race the train, conquer the 10,000-ft. passes and ride the 50 magnificent miles to Silverton. As one of the oldest cycling events in the country, the Iron Horse and Durango community invites riders to join the tradition every Memorial weekend. Saturday's Iron Horse event, from Durango to Silverton, has both recreational and racing categories and the mountain passes are closed to cars.

Elephant Rock Ride
June 3, 2012

Join thousands of cyclists for the unofficial start to the Colorado cycling season. Don't miss the excitement of the 25th annual pilgrimage to Castle Rock for the Rocky Mountain region’s premier cycling festival—the 2012 Subaru Elephant Rock, a Rocky Mountain tradition. Whether you're six or sixty, prefer to ride on the road or the dirt, there is a course for cyclists of all abilities. All of the rides start and finish at Douglas County Fair Grounds in Castle Rock.

Pedaling 4 Parkinson's
June 9, 2012

A warm-up for serious cyclists and a good challenge for modest riders, Pedaling 4 Parkinson’s is a 55-mile ride starting at Denver’s Garland Park. Ride through Cherry Creek State Park, the south metro area, along the South Platte River to downtown Denver, then back to Garland Park for free lunch, prizes and fun family activities. Every penny of the $100 you raise will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. There’s also a five-mile family ride, so your kids can ride too. Free tech support, free t-shirt and free refreshments at rest stops. Join the fight! Join the fun!

The Denver Post Ride The Rockies
June 9–15, 2012
 
Ride The Rockies (RTR) is one of Colorado's premier cycling events. The 27th annual tour will feature five scenic mountain passes, two national parks, one century option and nearly 25,000 vertical feet of climbing. Cyclists will begin their 442-mile journey in the historic city of Gunnison and end six days later at Odell Brewing Company in Ft. Collins. Additional highlights include a King of the Mountain Stage, co-branded by the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, and a traverse along Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous byway in the United States. Proceeds from RTR benefit The Denver Post Community Foundation and Bicycle Colorado.

Mountain Top Experience Ride
June 17, 2012 

Mountain Top Cycling Club (MTCC) announces the inaugural “MTCC Experience” road ride on June 17, 2012. Cyclists of all levels are welcome as we start and finish in Florissant, Colorado. You will have the options of an 18 mile, 57 mile, and a 100 mile century loop over Wilkerson Pass.  The Pro Challenge riders will enjoy part of this route. A post ride hometown BBQ style lunch will be provided. This ride benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and The Mountain Top Cycling Club. MTCC is a non-profit organization.

Boulder Sunrise Century
June 23, 2012

One of the most unique routes in Colorado and a real feather in your helmet. All the challenge and reward you'd expect from a century ride out of Boulder. Plains cruising, canyon carving and high-alpine rollers with views for miles. 75- and 100-mile options. And just when you feel you can't climb anymore, it's 30 miles downhill to the finish. Six aid stations, full course support, post-event meal, music, beer garden and sponsor arena.

To celebrate bicycling for transportation, fun and health, Colorado has designated each June as Bike Month and June 27, 2012, as Bike to Work Day. Colorado encourages bicycling novices and enthusiasts to experience the fun and freedom of safely riding a bike to work, school, errands and recreation.

The 2012 Newmont Bike MS,
presented by Great-West Life
June 30 - July 1, 2012

Join 3,000 cyclists in the Newmont Bike MS, presented by Great-West Life to help realize a world without MS. The ride starts and finishes in Westminster with an overnight in Fort Collins and covers 75 miles each day. Whether you're a weekend warrior, a recreational cyclist or a hard-core roadie, this ride is for you! The route takes cyclists along the Northwestern Front Range covering a scenic route of rolling hills and lakeside views. Unite in the fight to create a world free of MS.

Red Rocks Century
July 8th

The Red Rocks Century powered by Primal is a challenging and scenic ride through the beautiful Front Range of Denver. 114 miles of amazing summits, fascinating rock formations and challenging elevations. Starting at Red Rocks Elementary, cyclists will pass famous landmarks include Dinosaur Ridge, Red Rocks Park and the historic Brook Forest Inn, as well as the mountain towns of Idledale, Kittridge, Evergreen, and Idaho Springs. And an exhilarating climb up Squaw Pass tops out at 11,140 ft. Total elevation gain is about 10,000 ft. All proceeds benefit charity.

Triple Bypass
July 14–15, 2012

Interest in the "Triple" has exploded in the last few years, selling out quickly. For 2012, Team Evergreen has again included a return route on Sunday from Avon to Evergreen. This route includes Vail Pass, Loveland Pass and Squaw Pass. Openings remain for the Avon-Evergreen route and the "double-Triple," so register today.

Recognized by VeloNews as one of the epic rides in the U.S., the Triple Bypass covers 120 miles, climbing more than 10,000 feet. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this year's ride.

 Bob Cook Memorial Mt. Evans Hillclimb
July 21, 2012

Starting in Idaho Springs and continuing to the top of Mt. Evans, The Bob Cook Memorial Mt. Evans Hill Climb is ranked as one of the hardest hill climbs in the country. The race hosts more than 1,200 athletes and draws participation from all over the world. The present record holder is Tom Danielson with a time of 1:41:20 in 2004. The women's course record is held by Jeannie Longo of France with a time of 1:59.19. The course is 28 miles and more than 6,900 feet of climbing, topping out at 14,264 ft.

Tour de Steamboat
July 21, 2012

The Tour de Steamboat is an annual bicycle event that brings together 700 cyclists on a one-day ride through beautiful Northern Colorado. Rabbit Ears Pass, Gore Pass, Stagecoach, Toponas, Upper Craven and Wolford Mountain dot this incredible route, and three mileage options offer something for everyone. This non-competitive event is open to cyclists of all ages and participants are encouraged to ride at their own pace and enjoy the majestic scenery!

 Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle
August 4, 2012

The Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle course is a spectacular 78-mile loop cresting Fremont Pass (11,318 ft.), Tennessee Pass (10,424 ft.) and Vail Pass (10,666 ft.). The course passes three ski areas and is dotted with historic mining outposts and Camp Hale, the training ground for the famous 10th Mountain Division. Total elevation gain is 5,981 ft. Supporting the Davis Phinney Foundation funding Parkinson's disease research, the Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle is a celebration of cycling. The event will sell out, so register today.

Lookout Mountain is one of the best-known climbs in Colorado. Easily accessible from Denver, it offers cyclists a challenging course from its base in Golden to the top near Buffalo Bill's grave. This is a point-to-point course, but it's also a good race for fans as there are several places along the route to watch the race unfold.

Bike MS Close Encounters - Wyoming
August 18–19, 2012

The 2012 Bike MS Close Encounters Ride will provide views of historic and scenic Wyoming and South Dakota. Each day begins and ends in Sundance, Wyoming, traveling across 80 miles of beautiful countryside through Northern Wyoming on Day One and 77 miles via the gorgeous Black Hills of South Dakota on Day Two.

The Denver Post Pedal The Plains

The inaugural Pedal The Plains (PTP) bicycle tour is a three-day ride across the Colorado's high plains celebrating Colorado cycling culture--great rides, good eats and close friends. Icon LASIK Tour of the Moon

The Colorado National Monument and Grand Junction are the spectacular locations for this epic ride with moon-like landscapes. The Tour of the Moon is a premier road ride with breathtaking, high desert scenery.
